Description
This document consists of 17 pages of letters, memoranda and telegrams concerning the decision to deport a Syrian named John Raphael. He had arrived in 1928 and was granted entry, but was subsequently found to have tuberculosis. The Chief Medical Superintendent ruled that he would become a burden on the state and despite appeals, the minister approved the deportation order and John was deported on 27 July 1930
